Just over a year ago I decided to take my health and body seriously. I never worked out before then, ate horrible, and drank too much. It has taken me over the course of the last year and a half to actually “figure it out” and finally get some sort of healthy lifestyle in order.
This is why I want to share with you how it works for me, because it took a looooooooong time! Everyone, myself included, wants results overnight. You didn’t create an unhealthy lifestyle overnight, so creating a healthy one won’t happen overnight either! So here is a list of some apps and different things that help me. Everyone is soooo different and the bottom line is that you have to figure out what works for you and your life (the hardest part).
5K Runner App
This app seriously helped me become a runner. It took me a year, but I did run my first 5K this year! Yay! So if you have any interest in starting to run, this app is perfect for you.
Fitbit Tracker and App
This has helped me really figure out what calories I burn doing what. It also tells me my sleep pattern, SLEEP is very important.
This app is amazing. You enter all your information like weight, height, and goals. Then everyday you enter what you eat and it logs it for you and tells you everything about it (calories, fat, protein). You can also connect this with your fitbit to then see how many calories you are burning vs how many calories you are eating, so easy!
Daily Workouts Apps
These are a series of free apps. You can choose ab, arm, butt, cardio, leg, or yoga. I have all of these and love all of them. Here is the link
, or you can just search daily workouts in the app store.
Go educate yourself on what food is healthy. I actually went to the library and read books, weird I know. You can also Google stuff but just make sure what you’re reading is credible. Eat healthy! Educate yourself, we live in the information age so use it!
You have to have a reason to change, otherwise you wouldn’t be trying. So find what drives you to make a difference and focus on that, during your workout and also throughout your day to help you control when and what you eat. I like praying before I even start my day, and then throughout. My wedding has been a huge motivation as well though!
Find something that you don’t hate. Examples I have that I like are: rollerblading, biking, and walking/jogging. Doing all of these outside let’s you enjoy all the nature God has given us, my favorite part. Another thing I like to do if you’re inside is just 10 minute intervals on any cardio machine then switching to another. So treadmill (brisk walk on incline), to stair-stepper for 10, then elliptical for 10, this is much easier than one thing for 30 minutes on one machine.
Ask if your gym offers classes and go to them! Having a friend to go with makes it easier at first but even if you don’t, go! You will make friends there! Challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone, it will be rewarding.
Cut the alcohol
When I turned 21 I gained the most weight! Drinking all night is major calories, looooooook it up it’s crazy. But then you eat crappy food because you get hungry towards the end of the night and then again in the morning because all that sounds good is a pile of greasy hash browns. Not to mention there’s no working out when you feel like you’ve been hit by a train (aka the hangover), so all and all its terrible for your health. I learned this the hard way.
Buy cute workout clothes, it helps, trust me.
It’s so rewarding to accomplish goals we set for ourselves. Set reachable goals, don’t overwhelm yourself at first. The last words I have are patience, perseverance, and positivity.
What are some of your goals? Do you have any other helpfuls you want to share?
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price, Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
