Hi guys! I recently had a skin consultation with a Skin Bar NYC Skintician, aka a skin expert, and want to share my experience! Having a skincare routine is so important and you’ll hear me say that over and over. Not only is a good skincare routine important, but so is knowing what products you need for your skin. A lot of things come into play when determining your skin type and concerns. Getting a professional recommendation and then investing in your skin is something that I highly recommend.
We did my consultation on Skype and with having an 8-month-old, that was so convenient. First, we went over my skin type, and identified it is mostly normal. My skin is a little oily in the summer months and a little more dry in the winter but for the most part, it stays pretty normal.
The esthetician then asked what my current routine was. So we went over that, which is basically cleanser, serum, moisturizer and then a few other things probably about once a week like exfoliation and masks, etc. I am writing a post on my current morning and night routine right now so look for that coming soon.
After that, she recommended products for me and my skin type. She recommended a cleanser, serum, and daytime moisturizer with SPF. I loved that she showed me the products and explained each one, it was like a mini skincare 101 class and I learned so much!
She also recommended getting a facial every so often so I asked her what to ask for and expect with that so I could be prepared.
My favorite part of the experience was knowing I was getting these recommendations by a professional, it made me feel good about what I was about to use on my skin every day. I also love that they are there for any questions I have!

I have been extremely happy with the products I’ve been using and I haven’t had any issues like breakouts or dryness/oiliness since using them.
I’ve been using the Ormedic Balancing Cleanser. I absolutely love that it balances your pH level so no toner is needed (if I can cut out steps and save time I am all for it). It’s a luxurious, foaming gel cleanser that leaves my skin super clean, it also smells amazing, fresh and clean.
The full name is the Vital C Hydrating Anti-Aging Serum. Basically, it’s a Vitamin C serum and that means it fades dark spots, fights free radicals, and gives your skin a healthy looking glow all while preventing aging. I love the formula of this serum because it’s more of a creamy serum that can be used as a light moisturizer as well during the summer months or when I don’t need extra moisture.
The moisturizer I have is the Prevention+ Daily Matte Moisturizer SPF 32. If you love keeping oil at bay whether you have combo skin or oily skin I recommend this. I get so excited when I find a product that actually works and does what it says it will do. My face stayed matte all day with and without makeup. It’s also a requirement for my daytime moisturizer to have SPF and this one is really nice because it doesn’t smell or feel like sunscreen, it smells amazing, kind of like sweet tarts or candy.
Skin Bar NYC also has a really helpful blog that talks about things like getting clear skin, laser hair removal, etc. It’s a really great resource if you have skin care questions so make sure you check it out here.
