Hello, everyone! Today I’m talking about hair for one because I haven’t in awhile, and two because I just realized how healthy my hair has gotten since doing a few things! You know when you start doing something then it becomes a habit then you forget you’re even doing it? That’s how I feel about some of these tips I’ve included in my hair routine and they have paid off. I started doing them because I am obsessed with shiny & healthy hair, but really who wants to have dull hair?! Try some of these tips and let me know how it goes.
Shampoo & Conditioner
Use a moisturizing line of your favorite brand, or an oil infused line like this one.
Use a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup once a week. Buildup is the products and pollution stuck in your hair (ew).
Hot water can damage your hair, so never use scorching hot water. Shampoo with warm water, then rinse and condition with cool water to help seal the cuticle.
Use a deep conditioner once or twice a week. You can use any deep conditioner really, but I love this one.
I love using a coconut oil mask once a week, I just soak my strands overnight and shower in the morning. Shop coconut oil here.
Use a gloss to add extra shine like this one.
Make sure you’re getting dead ends trimmed about every 6-8 weeks so you’re always looking fresh. Having dead ends ruins the whole healthy/shiny look.
Coloring & Bleaching
Try to cut down on coloring your hair, bleaching especially. If you do go to the salon have them use olaplex to reduce the damage from bleach.
This one is easier said than done, I know, but cut down on hot tools. I only blow dry my hair about once or twice a week. When I do blow dry I let my hair air dry about halfway. Look up no-heat hairstyles on Pinterest and get creative!
Heat Protectant/Leave-In Treatment
When you do use your blow-dryer, curling iron, or flat iron don’t forget to use a heat protectant. My current favorite is this one because it also helps with a lot of other things like frizz AND it’s super affordable.
Okay, this one isn’t necessarily for shine but to minimize breakage. Don’t wear super tight hair ties all the time, and when you do make sure you’re not putting it in the same exact spot on your head.
